Bestselling author and writing teacher David Elliott joins the show to talk about the crazy way he inked his first publishing deal, where he comes up with his book ideas, and the biggest mistake people make writing for kids. Elliott has written over 20 picture books and young adult novels, including And Here’s to You! Finn Throws a Fit, and Bull.

His latest book is Voices: The Final Hours of Joan of Arc. Based on transcripts from two of her trials and written entirely in verse, the book paints an intimate portrait of one of the most mysterious figures in history.
