I was so saddened to learn of the sudden death of a good friend and one of my all-time favorite editors, Bruce Fretts. He was only 54. Bruce began his career at Entertainment Weekly in the 90s. Later he moved to TV Guide where he penned the iconic "Cheer and Jeers" column. He was a frequent contributor to The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Emmy. We spoke in 2017 about following his childhood dream to write about TV, and what he did to rise to the top of the field. RIP Bruce. You were one of the greats.

A fund has been set up to help out Bruce’s two children, Olive and Jed, whom he adored.
